Does Amazon combine shipping rates for multiple items I buy in a single order?

For example: Say I bought a radio for $20 (shipping $2.98 right? let's just say $3), an ipod for $100 ($3) and a video game for $40 ($3). All in one order. What is the total going to be? $169? Or $163? Does it matter if they are coming from different places/states? The shipping method slightly confuses me. Help! Thanks!

  1. Hi, I buy through Amazon all the time so I got a good idea about shipping. When buying from Amazon you have to check who the seller is. If it is sold buy Amazon they will give you one shipping rate for their amounts, so if everything you bought is from them you only pay one rate, once even if they have to ship more than one box. If your buying from someone through Amazon you have to pay their shipping. It doesn't matter if their coming from different places/states the shipping is the same, if their the same type of amount. You can compare shipping prices if you use the new and use link, they'll give you the shipping price with the cost of the amount. If you plan to buy through Amazon alot through the next year, I recommend becoming an Prime Amazon member. It made the whole shipping thing easier for me. You pay for the membership and have to worry less over shipping. Amazon will give you free two day shipping for all their amounts.
  2. Why not ask Amazon ?? Also note that some items are shipped from various suppliers so that each one may have a charge of their own
