How do demographics effect a city's revenue?

I know the basic effect demographics have on a community's source of revenue (for exampe: there will be more money spent on alcohol and entertainment in a college town than a retirement community). However I need to find a website which discusses this. I have a paper I must write for my Public Finance class and I need to cite at least one reference. I am not having any luck. If someone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

1. Not sure if this will meet your source requirements, but you could go to a City website and find the contact info for the City Controller or Treasurer and inerview them directly.
